Are you working in Germany and looking to improve your language skills while keeping your paid leave? With LSI’s Bildungsurlaub-recognised courses, you can use your statutory educational leave to study English, French, or other languages abroad.

Bildungsurlaub Language Programmes
Elementary* to Advanced Levels
Minimum required lessons per week is 30

*Beginner level available at selected locations only
Language students from Germany have the right to take paid educational leave through the Bildungsurlaub scheme: 5 days per year, or up to 10 days within two calendar years.
LSI offers recognised Bildungsurlaub courses designed to help you improve your language skills while gaining valuable international experience. Courses meet the required number of weekly lessons to qualify for Bildungsfreistellung recognition, with options including intensive and exam preparation programmes.
Studying abroad through Bildungsurlaub allows you to fully immerse yourself in the language, accelerate your learning, and develop confidence in real-world communication.

LSI currently holds valid recognition for: Baden-Württemberg (England and France only), Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hessen, Niedersachsen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen-Anhalt (English only), Schleswig-Holstein
Recognition is based on the federal state where your workplace is located, not your place of residence.
On request, LSI can apply for recognition in other federal states, except Bayern, Sachsen, Thüringen and Nordrhein-Westfalen.
