General and Intensive Language Courses
Our range of General and Intensive Courses offer something for everyone – whether you’re looking for a short refresher course (10 or 20 lessons per week), or a longer, more intensive course (24, 25 or 30 lessons per week), LSI has the programme to suit your needs.
All our intensive courses follow the General 20 course (lessons 1–4). In addition during lessons 5–6, there are a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests. Elective lessons are run twice a week on the Intensive 24 and 25, and every day on the Intensive 30 course.

General 20
- 20 Lessons per week (4 lessons per day)
- 1 lesson: 50 minutes
- Hours per week: 16 hours 40 minutes (20 clock hrs/wk in the USA)
- Course length: 1-50 weeks
- Age 16+
During the lessons you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. In a further 2 lessons you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, writing. You use a text book in conjunction with a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines.
Intensive 24

- 2 days (6 lessons), 3 days (4 lessons)

Intensive 25
- 25 Lessons per week

- 2 days (6.5 lessons), 3 days (4 lessons)
Intensive 30
- 30 Lessons per week
- Course length: 1-50 weeks
- 1 lesson: 50 minutes
- Hours per week: 25 hours
- Age 16+
The LSI Intensive 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve a much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 (lessons 1-4). In addition during lessons 5–6, there are a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests.

Afternoon 10
- 10 lessons per week
- 1 lesson: 50 minutes
- Course length: 1-11 weeks
- Hours per week: 8 hours 20 minutes
- Ages 16+
This course is suitable for students who wish to improve their fluency, vocabulary and pronunciation in a language. There is an emphasis on language for everyday situations and classes may involve discussing topics such as film and theatre, current events, politics, local culture and the internet.
Plus Course
The combination of group and One-to-One learning is ideal when you want extra help with general skills or more specialised topics. Plus courses are 5 or 10 individual lessons. Our teachers work with you to develop your study plan. This course can supplement a General 20 or Intensive Courses.One-to-One
The fastest way to improve your language skills is through individual lessons. Individual lessons are ideal if you prefer a very personal focus on your own aims.Notes
16 students max. per class (15 in the UK, 12 in Zurich).
In Zurich all lessons are 45 minutes.
In the US only: A clock hour is defined as a 60-minute span of time, with no less than 50 minutes of actual class instruction.
Regular schedule for Intensive 30 - 6 lessons per day. However in the USA and Canada this changes to – 4 days of 6.5 lessons per day plus 1 day of 4 lessons.
Regular schedule for Afternoon 10 - 2 lessons per day. However in the USA and Canada this changes to – 4 days of 2.5 lessons per day.
