Our intensive courses offer something for everyone, from a quick refresher to a deeper learning experience, LSI has the right programme for you.
Learn Your Way with Flexible Options
All our intensive courses (for ages 16+) follow the General 20 course with the addition of a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests.
General 20
20 lessons per week (4 lessons per day)
Course length: 1-50 weeks (Min. 8 weeks for beginner level)
1 lesson: 50 minutes
Hours per week: 16 hours 40 minutes (20 clock hrs/wk in the USA)
Ages 16+
Build confidence fast as you develop your communication skills across real-life situations. Each day, two lessons focus on strengthening your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, while another two sharpen your speaking, listening, reading and writing. You’ll learn through a coursebook alongside a rich mix of materials and activities, including roleplays, authentic content, newspapers and magazines.

Intensive 24 / 25 / 30
Beginner to advanced levels

Course length: 1-50 weeks (Min. 8 weeks for beginner level)
Ages 16+
LSI offers 24, 25 or 30 lesson options per week on our Intensive courses. All our intensive courses consist of the General 20 (Intensive English) course (4 lessons per day) and a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests (2 lessons per day). Elective options are run twice a week on the Intensive 24 and 25, and every day on the Intensive 30 course. Afternoon 10
10 lessons per week
Hours per week: 8 hours 20 minutes
1 lesson: 50 minutes
Course length: 1-11 weeks (Min. 8 weeks for beginner level)
Ages 16+
Ideal for busy schedules or working professionals, Afternoon 10 is a flexible way to sharpen your conversation skills, improve your Business English, or prepare for a range of exams.
This course helps you build fluency, expand your vocabulary, and refine your pronunciation. With a strong focus on real-life communication, lessons explore engaging topics such as film and theatre, current affairs, politics, local culture and the internet.

Plus Courses - One-to-One
The combination of group and One-to-One lessons is perfect if you want extra support with general skills or more specialised areas. Plus Courses include 5 or 10 individual lessons, with teachers working closely with you to create a study plan tailored to your goals. This option can also be taken alongside a General 20 or Intensive course for added focus.
If you want to progress quickly, One-to-One lessons offer the most personalised way to improve. Fully focused on your individual needs and objectives, they’re ideal for targeted, fast-paced learning.

English for 30+
English for 30+ is a topic-based programme designed for learners aged 30 and above. Each week focuses on a new theme with a clear grammar focus, helping you build, recycle and strengthen vocabulary and language skills in a structured way.
You’ll learn alongside like-minded adults in a welcoming environment, exploring culture, everyday communication and current topics, while enjoying the chance to use English in vibrant, international cities.

At LSI we welcome young-at-heart mature students on all our courses throughout the year.
In addition, at certain locations we organise social activities which suit the more mature student’s interests. Example activities include: winery visits, rain forest excursions, Maori weaving, boat trips, theatre visits, Kensington Palace.
