During the lessons you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. In a further 2 lessons you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, writing. You use a text book in conjunction with a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines.

Intensive 30

  • 30 Lessons per week
  • Course length: 1-50 weeks (Minimum of 8 weeks for beginner level only)
  • 1 lesson: 50 minutes

The LSI Intensive 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve a much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 (lessons 1-4). In addition during lessons 5–6, there are a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests.

IELTS/TOEFL 20

This course is designed to prepare students for both the TOEFL and IELTS exams. The course will focus on developing the skills necessary to excel in the four key areas: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Each week, students will explore different topics, language targets, and exam question types, with practice materials drawn from contemporary textbooks and real exam examples.

The First Certificate (FCE) is the most popular of the Cambridge examinations, and can lead to new opportunities professionally and in further education. LSI’s Pathways programme prepares students for the academic challenges facing them on English or French speaking programmes at top colleges & universities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France. LSI provides support right from the start: offering advice on the most suitable course options for you, assisting in the application process and crucially preparing you with the general language and academic skills needed to thrive in an English or French speaking university or college.

  • 30 language lessons per week (25 hours)
  • Language lessons cover general and academic language and exam skills
  • 2 additional weekly sessions cover academic and professional development, and university application support (1.5 hours)

Some of the skills covered are university research and presentation skills; effective communication in academic situations; exam skills and techniques; note taking and organising; and essay writing skills, including critical thinking and developing and presenting arguments.

Business English 30

  • 10 lessons a week
  • Afternoon option on our LSI Intensive 30 course

  • Each module is separate and lasts for one week

English is the international language of business. This is why we have developed a special modular course carefully designed to improve your business communication skills. In the mornings you will study on our LSI 30 Course. In the afternoons you will study business modules, covering topics such as Banking and Stock Markets, Marketing and Advertising, Recruitment, Sales and Negotiating. You may choose the particular modules that are of interest to you, or follow the complete course to attain an advanced knowledge of business English.

Medical English

English is the language of the international medical community. LSI provides a Medical English course which will not only improve your general level of English, but will also improve your knowledge in the field of human biology, medical science, nursing, formal report writing and much more. By the end of the course you will feel more able to communicate effectively with medical colleagues from around the world.

Legal English

English is the language of communication in the modern legal community. LSI provides a Legal English programme which will not only improve your general level of English but will also improve your knowledge in the fiel of civil, corporate and contract law, formal report writing and much more. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate more effectively with legal colleagues from around the world.

  • 10 afternoon lessons per week 
  • Intermediate to Advanced levels
  • Course length: 1 - 8 weeks
  • Age 16+
  • Can be booked independently or in addition to a morning 20 lessons course, such as General 20, Exam Preparation 20, Academic English 20 or Business English 20.

Modules including: Company Law, Contractual Law, Employment Law and Human Resources, Human Rights, Immigration and Civil Liberty, Competition/Monopolies Law, Acquisition and Mergers, Copyright, Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. Other modules may be available on demand.

English for Public Speaking and Presentations

English for Public Speaking & Presentations course has been created not only to boost your confidence, but also to help you become more articulate in front of an audience. This 4-week programme is designed specifically or ESL learners at the B1+ level or higher. 

This course consists of 10 lessons per week in small classeses with a maximum of 5 students. The afternoon classes can be taken in addition to General English classes in the morning, or independantly. 
 

Business English 20

English is the international language of business. We have therefore developed a special, flexible, 12 module course designed to rapidly improve your business communication skills.

Every 12 weeks, we recycle the modules with a fresh syllabus. This means students who wish to study longer and consolidate and expand their knowledge of a particular area, can do so without repeating any material.

This course includes 20 lessons per week and focuses on the necessary skills that give students the best chance of meeting their chosen institution’s academic targets and expectations.

English for Mining

LSI offers a specialised English for Mining programme, designed to improve your overall English proficiency while building sector-specific mining knowledge, including mining termonology, operations, health and safety and technical reporting.

English for Engineering

  • 10 lessons per week in London (2 lessons per day) & 8 lessons per week in Toronto
  • 1 lesson: 50 minutes

During the lessons you develop the English language skills needed for engineering studies and professional environments. You build engineering-specific vocabulary and improve your ability to communicate clearly and accurately in technical situations. Lessons cover engineering fundamentals, technical drawings, materials, problem-solving, project work and professional communication. You use a variety of materials and activities including case studies, technical documents, discussions, presentations and practical engineering tasks. By the end of the course, you will be able to discuss technical topics confidently, interpret engineering documentation and communicate effectively in international engineering environments.

 

Mini Group (20 lessons per week)
