Learn English in New York
As the major business and cultural centre of the United States, New York is rightly proud of its leading role and long tradition in American history. From commerce to politics, ballet to sporting events, New York has it all.
New York is a city of islands, and consists of five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. Manhattan, at the heart of the city, is a narrow island approximately 12 miles long and 3 miles wide and is the place where everyone wants to be. Commuters pour into Manhattan from the outer boroughs and surrounding areas every morning to work and to play.
It is in Manhattan that you find Central Park, Fifth Avenue and the Shopping District, Broadway and the Theatre District, Greenwich Village/SoHo and the Artist's District, and the Wall Street Stock Exchange. In addition, you can enjoy the many excellent museums, restaurants, and sights that make New York famous-the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations, and the Empire State Building.
The School
LSI New York is based at the Manhattan campus of the Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY), located downtown in SoHo, near the Financial District. The classrooms are both spacious and comfortable and offer splendid views over Manhattan. You will have every opportunity to mix with American students ( see map of school location ).
Facilities include a first-class library where students can find a quiet place to study, with access to books magazines and newspapers free of charge. Two computer rooms with free internet access contain more than 40 computers for student and staff use. There is a student lounge where students can take a break and relax with fellow classmates.
Our social and leisure programme allows you to practise your English while you enjoy the sights and culture of New York and relax with new friends.

The Courses
General and Examination Courses
Standard 20
A course with 20 lessons per week, covering all aspects of the language from pronunciation to grammar and vocabulary to practice in the four skills.
Intensive 30
Suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well rounded insight into the language and country. Students follow a Standard 20 course in the morning, then intensify and consolidate the tuition in the afternoon classes.
Plus Courses
One-to-One classes tailored to your needs, designed to supplement group courses.
English for Business Course
An afternoon option on the English language LSI Intensive 30 course, covering topics such as Banking and Stock Markets, Marketing and Advertising, Recruitment, Sales and Negotiating.
International School Year Intensive 30
30 lessons per week
International School Year Standard 20
20 lessons per week
An excellent opportunity to learn a new language, immerse yourself in a new culture and make friends from all over the world.
Study and Work Programme
For the first 4 to 8 weeks you study an LSI Intensive 30 course to increase your fluency and build confidence with the language. We then place you in a work experience position closely related to your career interests or educational background, allowing you to gain the skills and confidence to pursue your chosen career.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Preparation
TOEFL is required by non-native speakers of English for admission to universities in the USA and Canada. Preparation for this test at LSI is an afternoon option on the LSI Intensive 30 course.
Executive Courses
One-to-One
Individual tuition tailored to your needs. We offer 20, 30 or 40 lessons per week.
Mini Group
Intensive language training for business in a small group. This course can be supplemented with One-to-One lessons.
